The privacy of you and your customers is important to us

The advent of pervasive technologies, miniature cameras, portable devices, and other recording and tracking techniques has changed the way our society sees itself. With these changes, the question of personal privacy has become more and more important. At Pomelo, we are very aware and sensitive to this topic.
In accordance with the legal and social constraints of several European and other nations, we have adapted our technology to ensure that the privacy of the people (shoppers, personnel, visitors, passersby) that we study is maintained. To this end, we have ensured that:
-
The data we collect contains no personal information
-
The recordings we gather do not allow to identify any person
-
Information that someone else could combine with their own data to identify people is not shared
-
All data that is even slightly sensitive is kept on air-gapped servers that cannot be accessed from the outside
-
We never take raw data outside of our servers
We developed these provisions to be in accordance with the guidelines of such regulators as the CNIL in France, or the Data Protection offices in Switzerland, or the GDPR in the European Union. Again, we care about the privacy of you and your customers very much!
A sample from the recordings we gather in store. Our technology anonymises all the source images and then extracts the movements, stops and actions of people, but will never be able to extract their identity.

The anonymisation methodology we use is applied to the entire image, so that we are sure we won't miss some people as sometimes happens when a simple blurring is applied to all faces detected in an image. This makes our approach much more secure than the standard procedure of anonymisation.
